Venom

Reignvenom
A lot of people are mocking the latest Spider-man mini series, "Reign". It's set in the future, with Peter Parker being old, and a sudo-facist mayer in power over New York.

A lot of the mocking is because Peter killed Mary-Jane with radioactive sperm.

I'm not going to pass judgement on that, but I am going to say -

FUCK I LOVE THE ART.

192708051 Ccd71Fa5Fd O DPlease go to http://www.warrenellis.com for previews and stuff, but understand this: NEXTWAVE IS GOD.

Go read. There is a trade on Amazon... I think it's called This is what they want... or I KNOW it's called that, because that's what I'm reading at the moment. It's good. Please read... (and that's why you don't have a direct link to the Amazon page, because I'm on the train).

All Star Supes

It's really rather good. Seriously. It has been a fantastically long time since I had the pleasure of a Superman comic.

Please note, that's not saying that I've not read a Superman comic... it's just not been a pleasure.

So I'm enjoying All-star Superman. It's nice to see classic ideas remixed well. The complete nut job Lex, and the way he is dealing with Superman is genius. Watching Grant Morisson fly his way around is a pleasure.

Supes
If you liked (and/or loved) New X-Men (not the children running around getting themselves butchered - I'm talking about the Morisson run on X-Men) then you owe yourself this comic. It'll be better than the X as well, because Quietly looks like he is going to be illustrating ALL the issues, rather than having silly rushed fill-in artists. This does mean that this comic becomes late. Often.

As in REALLY often. I think this has been going for a year, and we've had 5-6 issues. Wow. That's shit.

Ah. Trades. I really like hardcover trades. I've read three very good ones over the past couple of weeks.

First up:
X-Men: Phoenix - Endsong

If you know anything about me, then you know that Jean Grey (the proper Phoenix, let's not have any of this other Rachel, etc. crap lads) is my favorite X-man.

So this was a good book for me. And it made me sad, and want to cry, but I'm susceptable to such things at the moment. Leave me alone.

5/5 Ex-lovers returning from the dead.

Second:
Green Lantern: Rebirth

Now I don't know much about Green Lantern. So I don't really care. I have had to hear about this awesome Hal Jordan (the "best" Green Lantern ever! Apparently) for years in my DC Comics. Well, this brings him back, and yes it's clever, and a little touchy-feelie and happy in the end. Which is what I want from a comic sometimes.

3.5/5 Resurrected Superheroes.

Finally:
Identity Crisis

Was fucking good. No fucking good. I managed to avoid all the spoilers, and all the hype last year. This was huge, and I can see why. Rape, betrayl, murder... and setting the stage for some awesome times to come in the DC universe.

5/5 Angry Batmen.

Go. Read. Now.
