Doomsday
Well that was. Good? Good. Good! I can't decide! I think I can recognize that Russell can't write for shit. I think I realise that he is an ideas man. I.. wait. This isn't going right. Hang about...
OK, so 13 weeks boil down to this. No matter what happens, it's going to be disappointing, even if it's only because I enjoyed the slight terribleness of it all. And some of it was terrible (you managed to fuck up the ending to your Werewolf episode. You had to try to drop the ball on that one. Then you had a killer episode to that shite one last week, and I spent all week waiting for this...
... and it doesn't dissapoint. It just didn't amaze. The Daleks were a bit lame, while kicking ass, and it was all there. I was annoyed at the Cybermen needlessly shouting "DELETE" every now and again, and the ill-advised "exterminate!"/"Delete!" dialog when they are fighting was a drain, but hey it's the Doctor. They even explain some annoyances of the past episode (I'm talking about the need to keep putting those 3D glasses on. Neither cute nor funny).
I guess I'm being harsh. I was annoyed by the Cybermen this year. Why the hell continue Doctor Who, rather than reboot, if you're going to use a parallel world trick to bring an ancient foe back? Well, as it turns out, it might have been a clever plot device to bring back the Daleks. So I'll let it slide. A little. The new Cybermen are still shite though. This was good. It really was. Family fun. Enjoyable. Sad ending, with a bit of a surprise, I look forward to Christmas, read the rest of the post to see why.
